Obituary for Allen Jay Alexander

Allen Jay Alexander, 89, of Riceville, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at his residence.

He was a native of Watertown, N.Y. and longtime resident of McMinn County , he was a son of the late George Clifford and Irene Pearl Lanpher Alexander. He was also preceded in death by sister Alice Ann (Max) Phillips, and bride of 67 years Patricia Teselle Alexander who departed for her heavenly home a year ago.

He was an active member of the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and transitioned to the National Reserve from 1954-1958.

He attended Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University) and began his life's calling as an Ordained Minister faithfully serving his Lord and Savior for 60 years in various churches from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

He was a retired Volunteer Fireman for Riceville Fire Department, and was retired Staff member from Cleveland State Community College.

His hobbies included model trains, wood working, photography, and being a mechanic to anyone that needed his help.

He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lyn Fine of Cleveland and Lanell and Joe Nichols of Riceville; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Laura Alexander of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Harry Edward Koonce, III.

A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 pm, Friday, March 25th at the Athens Christian Church with Rev. Richard White officating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00-6:00 pm at the church prior to the serve.

The family suggests memorials be made to Johnson University for the scholarship of Gair & Alexander Scholarship Fund @johnsonuniversity-knoxville,tn.
