Obituary for Virginia Irene Wade (Buchanan)
Virginia Buchanan Wade, 96, of Waverly, TN and formerly of the Idlewild Community near Athens, passed away, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Life Care Nursing Home in Waverly.
She was a native and longtime resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late Clifford Buchanan and Marie Buchanan Guinn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Poindexter D. Wade, daughter Phyllis Marie Wade, son and his wife, Mike and Peggy Lee Wade, two granddaughters Stacie Lynn Wade and Michelle Lloyd, great-grandson, Troy Dean Heath, three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Wade, Joyce Dye, Nell King, brother, C.E. Buchanan, and step-father, John W. Guinn.
She was a long standing member of Rogers Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, C.D. and Sarah Wade of McEwen, TN ; three grandchildren, Alicia L. Heath of Smyrna, TN, Cindy Key of Chapel Hill, TN, and Kevin Wade of Norcross, Ga, ; nine great-grandchildren, Trinity and Ethan Wade, Candice and Jerrod Key, Alex, Lauren and Elizabeth Smith, and Collin and Cassie Heath; five step-grandchildren, Stephen Box, Donna Brown, Lesia Butler, Leigh-ann O'Guin and Al Box; eight step-great-grandchildren, Christy and Cadie Johnson, Tyler, Logan, Austin, Travis, and Nathan Box, and Brandy Bryant; a sister, Ellen Whitten of Kodak, TN; nephew and niece, Vance and Patty Baker; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Connie Womac, Linda Pendergrass, and very special friend Danny Blevins. Also a special thanks to all friends and neighbors for the care they provided.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 5, 2022 in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Cameron and Rev. Jamie Lonas officiating. Interment will follow in Roger Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am-1:30 pm at the funeral home Tuesday, April 5th prior to the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
