Obituary for Joyce A. Pounders (Leamon)
Joyce A. Pounders, 81, of Athens, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at the home of her daughter.
She was a native of Bradley County and longtime resident of McMinn County. She was preceded in death by her parents William H. and Emma Leamon. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy R. McClanahan (April 26, 1977) and her second husband Charles L. Pounders (December 7, 2012).
She was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church where she worked in the Nursery of the church for 20 plus years.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam McClanahan of Athens; sons, Wade (Kay) McClanahan of Cleveland and Chuck (Terrie) Pounders of Memphis; two granddaughters, Megan (Michael) McKeehan of Athens and Amanda Brown of Cleveland; five grandsons, Billy McClanahan, Greyson Pounders, Chase Martin, Jakson Pounders, and Lawson Brown; and two great granddaughters, Winter McClanahan and Aubrey McKeehan
A funeral service will be conducted, 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 11th in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Mike Frazier officiating. Interment will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 12th at Eastanallee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and Michael McKeehan. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade McClanahan, Chuck Pounders, Maynard Wilson, and Ron Gann.
