Obituary for Thurman B McDaniel
Thurman B. McDaniel, 93, of Athens, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at his residence.
He was a native of Monroe County and longtime resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late Lewis and Pearl Avens McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by his wife Glenda Hooper McDaniel, and brothers, Bobby McDaniel and Newell McDaniel.
He was a member of Dixon Avenue Baptist Church in Englewood, TN. He was associated with Olin Chemical for 15 1/2 years until his retirement. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge Meridian Sun Lodge #50F&AM.
He is survived by two daughters, Doris Cameron of Athens and Sue Gray of Knoxville; two granddaughters, Elaine Cameron and Hilaire (David) Prock all of Madisonville; one sister, Edna Self of Maryville; one brother Austin McDaniel of Madisonville; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 2:30 pm, Wednesday, August 17th at McMinn Memory Gardens with Rev. Allen Watson officiating. There will be no formal service or visitation.
A memorial reception following the graveside service at Dixon Avenue Baptist Church in Englewood, TN from 4:00-6:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Ray McDaniel, Jason McDaniel, David Prock, Roy Rogers, Brian Watson and Roger Self.
