Obituary for Judith "Judi" Griffith (Cunningham)

Judi Cunningham Griffith, 76, of Athens, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
A native Athenian, she was educated at City Park Elementary, McMinn County High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College. She taught high school history in Memphis, Tennessee, and enjoyed teaching at City Park for over 20 years before her retirement in 2009.
Judi loved her St. Paul's Episcopal Church family, serving on the Altar Guild, hospitality committee and Vestry. Through the years, many other groups in Athens benefitted from her service as well. She loved to garden, travel the back roads, play bridge and laugh with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Lee Cunningham; grandmother, Minnie Lee Cunningham; aunt Bess Moses; and uncle Dr. Bill Lee.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Shelley; daughters and sons-in-law, Lauren (Scott) Trew and Kara (John) Reynolds; granddaughters Emma and Bess Trew, Camille and Adeline Reynolds; brothers David (Sharon) Cunningham and Lynn (Debbie) Cunningham, aunt Lorraine Lee and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a private funeral service. The family will receive friends from the community on Tuesday, August 30th at 5:00 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Athens, TN.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the giver's choice.
