Obituary for Harold Roy "Sleepy" Eaton

Harold Roy "Sleepy" Eaton, 59, of Niota, passed away, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late LeRoy and Velma Riggs Eaton. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law Bobbie Swiger.
He was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God. He was a life time member of the McMinn County Rescue Squad and was active for 33 years. He worked for the Athens City Fire Department for many years, was a Reserve Deputy for the McMinn County Sheriff's Dept. for many years, was a 3rd District Constable, and was retired from Mayfield's after 37 years.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Wendy Swiger Eaton of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law, Cayci and Wayne Hicks of Englewood and Lacey and Chris Workman of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Mandy Eaton of Athens, Colby and Tangie Eaton of Tellico Plains, and Mitch and Mariah Ellis of Athens; fourteen grandchildren plus one on the way; sisters Amanda McDowell and her husband Mike, and Rhonda White all of Englewood; brothers, Larry Eaton and his wife Melissa of Athens and Darryl Eaton of Niota; father-in-law, Steven and his wife Ruth Swiger ; and sister-in-law, Rebecca and her husband Steve Pressley all of Cleveland.
A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 pm, Monday, January 2, 2023 at Woodward Avenue Church of God with Brother Jerry Stephens, Brother Gary Keylon, and Rev. Donnie Dalton officiating. The committal service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Niota Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm, Monday at the church prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Marty Jenkins, Michael Preston, Tim Selvage, Colby Eaton, Mike Eaton, Mitch Ellis, Rod Walker, and Dr. David Byrd. Honorary pallbearer will be McMinn County Rescue Squad and The City of Athens Fire Department.
