Obituary for Carl M Hutsell

Carl M. Hutsell. 94, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 16, 2023.
He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a son of the late Claude M and Laura Johnson Hutsell. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen Moore Hutsell, brother Jack Hutsell, half brothers and sisters Glen Hutsell, Herbert Hutsell, Lelan Goodson, Ruth Hutsell and Nell Lingerfelt.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Athens where he served as a Deacon and Head Usher for twenty years. He also served on several committees.
He served in the United State Navy aboard the USS Appalachain which was the flag ship for the atomic bomb test in 1946 at Bikini Attols in the Marshall Islands.
He was associated with Mayfield Dairy Farms for 45 years until his retirement, where he served as Vice President of Marketing.
He was an avid gardener, and loved growing vegetables to give to his friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Hutsell Shaughnessy of Chattanooga, TN; special grandson, James Shaughnessy of Nashville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Harold and Evelyn Benson of Etowah; sister-in-law, Betty G. Hutsell of Athens; special friend, Edwina McNutt of Farragut, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted, 2:00 pm, Friday, January 20, 2023 at McMinn Memory Gardens with Dr. Bill Henard officiating.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Alexian Village, Signal Mountain, TN and Hearth Hospice.
