Obituary for Susan Annette Stockton

Susan Annette Stockton, 59, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer at the home of her mother.
She was a lifelong resident of Athens. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Stockton.
She had been an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and participated in the Food Bank Program and other church related programs. She attended Tennessee Wesleyan University and Cleveland State Community College and received her master's degree from Bryan College. She began her career in banking at First National Bank and later at Citizens National Bank and then Simmons Bank.
She is survived by her mother, Madonna Reed Stephens and step-father, Harold "Frosty" Stephens; sisters, Carolyn Hitson of Sweetwater, Patsy Finger (Richard) of Knoxville, and Tracey Hennessee (Ronnie) of Athens; nieces, Sherri Brock of Englewood, Kara Finger of Knoxville, Natalie Hennessee of Norfolk, VA; nephews, Larry Reed of Englewood Greg Finger of Chattanooga, and Spence Hennessee of Athens; special aunt and uncle Cecil and Barbara Reed of Englewood and her little furry companion Keilah.
Thank you for all the prayers, love, cards, flowers and support by the ladies at Simmons and special friends, Lisa, Vickie and Charles for all your help.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 14. 2023 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Father Randy Stice officiating. The committal service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Sweetwater Memorial Park . The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 pm prior to the service.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of the givers choice.
