Obituary for Hubert L "Harry" Partain
Hubert L. "Harry" Partain, 97, of Athens, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Dominion Senior Living.
He was a native of Texas and grew up in the South Liberty Community near Athens, after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS North Carolina, he settled in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent 14 years at Rarity Bay in Vonore, TN, and spent the last 6 months at Dominion Senior Living. He was a son of the late Lee and Annie Mowery Partain. He was also preceded in death by his wife Marie Assums Partain, daughter, Judy Lee Beanke, brothers, Lee and Rudy Partain, and his step-mother, Mildred Partain.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Braintree, Massachusetts, and was a self-employed painter until his retirement.
He is survived by a grandson, Michael (Leslie) Partain of Lake Havasu, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Tristen Partain; sister, Patti P. Hall of Athens; brothers, Floyd and Larry (Jane) Partain of Athens; sister-in-law Raynette Partain; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. He will receive military honors at the funeral home from the U.S. Navy . The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
