Kim Ann Whitlock Altstatt, of Englewood, passed away following a long illness Sunday night, January 29. She was 53 years old.
Kim was born on July 16, 1963 in Sweetwater and long time resident of McMinn County. She was preceded in death by her brother Greg Whitlock, maternal grandparents Pete and Arvena Jackson, paternal grandparents Hobart and Versie Whitlock and Tom Martin, and best friend Joni Craig Welch.
Kim was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church and was a graduate of McMinn County High School. She dedicated 30 years of service to Tri County Center, most recently as the Associated Director. She enjoyed enriching the lives of her dear clients at Tri-County Center, spending time with her family and friends, and loving on her animals. She was a selfless, genuine woman who took pride in taking care of others and had a sense of humor that was enjoyed by all.
Kim is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Altstatt , son and future daughter-in-law, Michael Altstatt and Anna Nation of Englewood, and Danielle Welch. Parents, Ray and Barbara Jackson Whitlock of Athens; nieces, Laura Kate Whitlock and Emily Ann Whitlock; aunt, Sharon Whitlock Young; sister-in-law, Lisa Dorr Whitlock, also of Athens. Father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Viola Altstatt of Berryville, Arkansas: Larry and Clara Jean Cozens, Jennifer Clara Cozens,Victor and Jennifer Lauren Cozens, Andrew and Tasha Cozens; Tommy Altstatt, Rusty and Lynn Altstatt, Anthony Altstatt, Curtis and Judi Allen, and many other special nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and close friends.
A funeral service will be conducted, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 3:30 pm in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Tony Crisp officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 3:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearer will be Derek Slack, Jon Southerland, Wade Gossett, Victor Cozens, Andrew Cozens, Rusty Altstatt, Anthony Altstatt, Samuel Miller and Isaac Miller.
