Robert K.(Bob) Perry, 66, of Athens, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Starr Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Alexandria, VA, April 6, 1951, Bob spent the majority of his life in the Northern Virginia-Washington, DC area. He was the son of the late Dolan and Constance Eleanor Krancer Perry. He was also preceded in death by a sister Eleanor Perry.
He was a graduate of Vienna High School in Vienna, VA. After high school, Bob attended Tennessee Wesleyan College (University), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in History in 1973. Bob remained in the Athens area for a brief time before returning to Washington.
Bob worked for many years in the United States Patent Office. He was the owner of Perry and Associates, a patent research firm. Bob returned to Athens in the early 2000's to assume the role of Director of Financial Aid at Tennessee Wesleyan, a position he held for 11 years prior to his retirement. Bob was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer with the McMinn Education Foundation.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted, 6:00 pm, Tuesday, January 16th in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. John Oldham and Rev. Dr. Chris Dover officiating.
