Ellen Diana Price Beverley, 59, of Athens, was greeted into the realms of glory during the quiet peaceful hours of daybreak Friday, January 31, 2020 at the home of her daughter in Etowah.
She was born in Winston Salem, NC and was the daughter of the late Lt. Col. Gerald LeGrande, Jr and Sara Ellen White Price.
Diana graduated from Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra, Virginia. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, TN and also attended Mercer University in GA where she received her Educational Specialist Degree and also her PhD in Education. She was a school teacher for many years and was an avid learner and advocate for education. She also spent most of her life around horses and other animals and taught horseback riding lessons to many, along with raising and training bird dogs. Diana was a very dedicated and loving mother and grandmother aka GoGo to the Mayfield 4 (her grandchildren) and also their #1 fan. She was member of St. Barnabus-Anglican Church in Dunwoody, GA and also attended Mars Hill Presbyterian Church in Athens, TN.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Brad Mayfield of Etowah; four grandchildren, Maddox, Amelia, Bradley and William Mayfield; four brothers, David, Gerald, Robert and William Price; and a host of other close Family and Friends from all over.
A memorial service will be conducted 3:00pm, Saturday, February 8, 2020, Mars Hill Presbyterian Church with Rev. Crawford King officiating. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 1-3 pm in the church fellowship hall. There will be a graveside service 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Little Vine Cemetery in Sylvatus, VA with Rev. Les Rust officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Please make Memorial Contributions to an Education Fund for the benefit of her Grandchildren. The account is held at Edward Jones, 582 Congress Parkway South, Athens, TN 37303. Make checks payable to Edward Jones and put Mayfield Education on memo line.
